M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation Celebrates Diversity in Aviation with

Latinas in Aviation Global Festival at College Park Aviation Museum

Riverdale, MD – In Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the public is invited to join M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation’s College Park Aviation Museum and Airport in presenting Latinas in Aviation Global Festival, 10a – 4p Saturday, October 1 at the museum, 1985 Corporal Frank Scott Drive, College Park.

At the family-friendly event, over 15 aviation professionals featured in Fig Media’s Latinas in Aviation book will fly into College Park Airport – also known as the Field of First because it has held many “first” events. The pilots will personally share their unique experiences and passion for aviation and provide mentoring opportunities to the community.

M-NCPPC has partnered with “Latinas in Aviation” to launch a second edition of the book that will feature local Maryland Latinas in the aviation industry.

“The museum is excited to be hosting Latinas in Aviation Global Festival again. This year there will be much more aviation activities for our community to participate in,” said Kevin Cabrera, Museum Director at the College Park Aviation Museum. “We hope to see you come out and enjoy all the festivities and be inspired by the magic of flight.”

Other exciting activities at the event include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, contributor author panels and presentations, Latinas in Aviation book signing, mentorship circles, scholarship opportunities, and more.

Jacqueline S. Ruiz, creator of the Latinas in Aviation movement as well as author of 25 books, international speaker, and sports pilot, took her affinity for flying and elevating Latinas involved in this industry to new heights with this partnership.

“As the founder of Latinas in Aviation, it is my honor to partner with the College Park Aviation Museum and Field of First Foundation to elevate Latinas in the field of aviation and inspire our community,” said Ruiz. “It’s exciting to see how the upcoming second annual festival unfolds to reach more people and motivate the next generation of Latinas to get involved in this amazing industry.”

The pilots will be available for media interviews from 11:00 am -12:00 pm. To learn more about the Latinas in Aviation Global festival and the College Park Aviation Museum, visit pgparks.com/1593/College-Park-Aviation-Museum.
